Ahojte všetci,
Tak tu sú novinky z tohto týždňa:

A pope for the Catholic middle; countdown to the G-8

Having spent the early part of this week in Australia and New Zealand, I'm arriving today in Rome, where the buzz is about Pope Francis' blockbuster interview with 16 Jesuit publications around the world, including America magazine in the United States, in which he pointedly rejects a church of what he calls "small-minded rules."
In political terms, Francis says something out loud that arguably had already become clear, but with a degree of candor that popes don't often provide: "I have never been a right-winger."

Sitcom writer's road to Catholic church no laughing matter

Tom Leopold is a very funny guy. He's also a Catholic.
He has been funny longer than he has been a Catholic. But being a Catholic doesn't stop him from being funny.

The real test of Francis' reform: touching the spiritually poor

Pope Francis shows courage: not only in his brave appearance in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, but also by entering into an open dialogue with critical nonbelievers. He has written an open letter to leading Italian intellectual Eugenio Scalfari, founder and longtime editor in chief of the major liberal Roman daily newspaper La Repubblica. These are not papal instructions, but a friendly exchange of arguments on equal levels.

Cardinals' summit shapes up as potential turning point

Francis' papacy only just reached the six-month mark, so it's probably premature to be talking about make-or-break moments for his legacy. That said, the Oct. 1-3 maiden summit of eight cardinals from around the world, tapped by the pope to advise him on governance and reform, profiles as a potentially critical turning point.

It will be hard to go backward after Francis' papacy

"The top person can never be wrong."
I remember being totally shocked, insulted and in full disagreement when I first heard this statement from an organizational consultant years ago. Only in asking him to explain was I finally forced to concede and reluctantly agree.

Australian priest, advocate for women's ordination excommunicated

An Australian priest vocal in his support of women's ordination has become the first person excommunicated for such beliefs under the papacy of Pope Francis.
Fr. Greg Reynolds of Melbourne, Australia, told NCR by email late Monday night his initial reaction was "shock" upon learning of his separation from the church. Australian media have reported he is the first member of the Melbourne archdiocese excommunicated and the first priest from the area laicized for reasons other than pedophilia.

Francis wishes to release Vatican II's bold vision from captivity

either bishops or peritus (theological advisers). Francis may not be a pope from the council, but he is quickly establishing himself as a pope of the council. Each of his recent predecessors, to be sure, carried forward particular elements of the council's teaching. This pope, however, has received the council's teaching through his distinctive experiences as a Jesuit, a Latin American and, pre-eminently, as pastor. His pontificate represents a fresh new phase in the ongoing reception of Vatican II, one shaped by a variety of post-conciliar developments.

Jesus and human imagination

During the past year, word has spread that the new account of Jesus by widely respected, 79-year-old German New Testament scholar Gerhard Lohfink is a milestone must-read for thoughtful Christians. It is not an easy read, but often beautiful and always demanding our full attention.

Russia: ‘Olympic Truce’ altered after pressure from United Nations to include gay equality

Russia has altered its version of the “Olympic Truce” to a more inclusive statement after UN members criticised the original draft for leaving out gay people, although it still fails to mention sexual orientation specifically.

A real time Mom’s eye view into raising a gender nonconforming child

Childhood gender non-conformity has long been known to be one of the most associated predictors of adult non-traditional sexuality. Many of our LGBT readers will recall play, fantasy, and behavior that seemed to separate them from other children of their own sex and we have all experienced children who elicit that inner “un-huh” which tells us that when the child was older they will find their way to our community.

Dobrý Bože, tento bol neskutočne dobrý. Najmä tá časť so snehuliakmi :D The Tiger Cure

At a time when gay-conversion therapy is losing its last shred of credibility, I’d like to share some fond memories of my sex surrogate—the woman who set me free.
